This thing is incredibly packable without having that "sticky" feeling that some cheaper rain layers have. The brushed exterior stays relatively quiet without adding any bulk. It's also a great layer for keeping the wind off of you, and the combo of this and puffy jacket are hard to beat. I wish they made this in a solid color because I would use it for day to day use around the house and at the office.
The best rain jacket for hunting. I just got finished with an early Arizona archery elk hunt where we had plenty of rain. This XKG Windstorm Rain Jacket along with the rain pants kept me dry, warm and is very quitet for hunting.
I am a fan of all the XKG gear. This jacket is one of the only waterproof jackets that keeps me dry and cool in the Texas heat. I actually thought it was leaking because it felt so nice after rain storms. I was dry as can be. Great piece of gear.
I wear a Large shirt and 34 or 36 pant depending on brand. The jacket fit great, got the large. Got the large pants and they were huge. Ended up returning for the small and they fit good with plenty of room. Frustrated that I had to pay for return shipping to get the right size of pants and that it was so far oversized but overall I'd recommend to buy, just be careful with sizing. The fit of the pants could definitely be improved upon and follow standard sizing much closer.
I used this coat a couple more times and paired it with a pair of frogg togg pants. I bought the jacket because it's more form fitting and not as Opie as a frog dog coat. I wore the jacket over a few different layers and it still fit well. It's a little pricey (hence 4 starts) but I would recommend it.
The pros: for the price (I got it on sale), this is a pretty good wind/rain jacket. The material does a decent job of breathing, I used it on an early November deer hunt in southern Arizona. It packs into a much smaller and light weight bundle than my older Gore-tex jacket. Not sure how it would do in the rain as we have not had any measurable rain in months in AZ. It does cut the wind pretty well. The cons: as others have noted the zipper leaves a lot to be desired, wish it had sturdier YKK zippers, might switch the zipper over myself. One of the biggest issues I have with some of the Kings Camo stuff is the lack of consistency in the color of the clothing. I purchased the Desert Shadow which in the past has been a muted color. This jacket is brilliant, almost shiny, which means it does not blend in as well as my much older gear. Bottom line: despite some flaws
